Austin Cindric’s Adelaide Wildcard: Norwell Driving School Tune-Up (2026)

The NASCAR Wildcard's Driving School Adventure: A Supercars Story

In a thrilling twist, Austin Cindric, the NASCAR wildcard, embarked on an educational journey to Australia's Supercars scene. But here's where it gets controversial: is there ever a point where a race car driver is too experienced for some extra tips and tricks?

Cindric, fresh from a ride day after the Sandown 500 and a two-day test at The Bend in South Australia, flew to Queensland for an unexpected driving school experience. His destination: Paul Morris' Norwell Motorplex, a renowned driver training facility that has shaped many current Supercars stars.

"I've known Paul Morris for a while, and I've always admired his work," Cindric shared with Speedcafe. "As a race car driver, you're always learning, and I thought, why not take this opportunity to gain some new perspectives?"

At the Motorplex, Cindric not only received guidance from 2014 Bathurst 1000 winner Morris but also from Dick Johnson Racing's Brodie Kostecki. "Brodie was a wealth of knowledge," Cindric said. "I picked his brain about driving techniques, and it was an incredible learning experience."

And this is the part most people miss: Cindric's visit wasn't just about the driving. He felt a genuine warmth and support from the Supercars community. "Everyone has been so welcoming and encouraging. It's clear they want me to succeed and enjoy this experience."

However, the real challenge awaits at the Adelaide street circuit, a concrete canyon unlike anything Cindric has raced on before. "Learning the track and understanding the tire behavior will be crucial," he explained. "But I feel at home in the Tickford Mustang, and I'm eager to extract every ounce of performance from it."

Cindric's goal for the weekend is simple: complete every lap and stay out of the championship fray. He's also made an intriguing prediction: "I think Broc Feeney will take the title. His confidence is unmatched; he's the winning horse in this race."

As Cindric prepares for the 2025 Supercars Adelaide Grand Final, the question remains: Can he surprise the Supercars veterans and make a mark in this unique driving school adventure? Join the discussion and share your thoughts in the comments!
